Hi, Clair. I’d like to come in and talk with you. Would that be all right?

This is the Batman we need to see more often. The one who remembers what it was like to be a scared child, one who knows how to handle situations delicately.

One of the reason why I love batman so much. He is portrayed as a very careful and guarded man. But he is probably the most human out of anyone. It’s why he is the knight that gotham deserves.

Batman, when he’s written correctly, is an extremely compassionate person.

I always feel the need to reblog this because it’s definitely something I feel was lost in the Nolan films.

context for the gif:

it’s Justice League animated. he was told to go kill the girl on the swing. he wouldn’t do it and she knew that because she read his mind— she was a human superweapon who had undergone absolutely inhumane testing and treatments to enhance her psychic powers until they were reaching reality-warping levels.

it gave her a brain aneurysm. she was going to die literally any minute.

hence why he “had to” kill her, because her death could trigger a massive reality warping wave that would destroy a few hundred square miles. instead he sat with her because she was scared, because she had never had a childhood and just wanted to play. she was bitter, and angry, and hated the people who did that to her.

he sat with her, held her hand as she died. instead of causing massive destruction, the reality-warping faded, slowly, until there was nothing left except Batman carrying her now-corpse. He was cradling her against his chest.

her name was Ace.

in Batman Beyond, Bruce Wayne’s dog is named Ace.

these shows were produced at the same time. fans don’t think the naming was a coincidence
