This is a ‘Beasts of Burden’ story by Evan Dorkin and Jill Thompson. All of the stories are like this, sort of supernatural horror/mystery featuring dogs and a couple of cats as the main characters. I have a collection of them called ‘Animal Rites’ that I love and highly recommend!
